Product Description
Contains summaries of the geological history, geography, and marine environment of Bermuda, identification keys, synonymies, and extralimital ranges for most of the 433 species known from Bermuda as adults and an additional 13 species recorded only as juveniles. Eighty-five species are added to the known Bermuda ichthyofauna, and 55 previously reported species are shown to be based on misidentifications, unsuccessful introductions, unreliable documentation or questionable locality data. The rich history of the utilization and management of Bermudas fisheries is discussed and brief biographies are included of nine early naturalists and ichthyologists who made important contributions to Bermuda ichthyology. Nine color plates contain 41 of Col. H.M. Drummond-Hays previously unpublished water colors painted in 1847-1851.
