From School Library Journal
Grade 3-4-- Life in a generic tide pool is described in this update of Bendick's earlier book by the same title (Garrard, 1976; o.p.). The text has been rewritten slightly, but the illustrations have been completely overhauled to include excellent-quality, full-color photographs and informative diagrams. However, these improved graphics seem to have been stuck into the book as an afterthought. Although the text is easy to read, the change in illustrations has caused some jarring interruptions to the narrative flow. In addition, there are blind references to nonexistent pictures. For example, the text refers to ``that limpet over there,'' and there is no limpet depicted in this edition. In the earlier book it is easy to pick it out among the barnacles. While this title is attractive at first glance and is more substantive than the earlier volume, it seems hastily put together. --Frances E. Product Review
"In this handy little book, Bendick presents basic information about plants and animals of the tide pool, describing them and discussing their food web as well as their adaptation to this unique ecosystem." --Booklist
